Question Upgrading the BLOWS system for a newbie

I don't know jack about car audio. I do know what sounds good though. The BOSE does not. The system in the G35 seems to get trashed as much as the bose does for the Z.

Here's my dilemma... I don't even know where to begin researching or what to research. Would it be adviseable if I just go to an audio installer, plop down $800 on the counter and say give me the best system for my money?

There is the potential for me getting screwed here, but what other choice does a person like me have?

Plop down $800 and you get $200 worth of stereo. Can't say there's an easy way, but you need to do some research if you don't want to be ripped off. You have to know what you want or have an idea going to an audio installer. Just research some of the Headunits (if your not keeping the stock) listen to some speakers and subs while at an audio shop. Get a feel of what sounds good to you and jump on the net and do some research. Check to see if they fit, power rating, Frequency rating, etc..
check the total price for the hardware, then add about $100 or so more for cables (depending on the setup and quality of the cables). If your installing a sub, figure in a custom sub box as well. Add that all up.
Now you have a general idea of what to install and how much it should cost. See how much it cost to install and take the difference from your figures to see cost of labor.

Hey Alpha,

Can you post a pic of the S2000 antennae you have. And where did you buy it at? I'm planning on ripping my neighbors off. J/K

How much also? And, was it an easy install?
