Do you want to be able to control iPod from the screen or do you just want the head unit to be able to play it?

How big of a screen do you want?

Don't you have to buy the GPS portion separate though?

no DVD on that, you have to load the videos via the SD card people say.

the F900BT plays DVD's and you can find them for as low as 780 dollars I believe.

THe F700BT is around 560 dollars.

http://www.electrawarehouse.com/prod...er+AVIC-F700BT

electra is WAY cheaper than crutchfield.

btw, so far it looks like these head units still take 1-2 minutes to load up. not joking. I want one so bad but i dont want to wait 1-2 minutes to load a cd player..

The Clarion MAX685BT is a nice unit. I have that one and it does everything I could ever want. The Head unit has a lot of featuresand will mesh very well with your steering wheel controls. The iPod adapter is a great and you can opt for a video connection cable as well. The GPS unit is the best I've ever used and you update it via a usb connection for free istead of a disc.

It may be a little beyond the price range you wanted to spend, but the extra is worth it. The navigation system and iPod controls are seperate from the head unit.

PAC audio makes a couple different steering wheel adapters that work with most aftermarket units. I have the pioneer f900bt in my z and I used the pac steering wheel control unit. It works flawlessly, the only thing is that you have to hold the button on the steering wheel for a fraction of a second longer instead of just tapping it. With regards to the start up time, it does take a minute or so to start up but the music starts after a few seconds so its not so bad. I love having msn direct that allows me to see traffic, movie times, gas prices, and weather forecast. I hope they come out with another update, then it will be perfect.

No not yet, but I did play a dvd to test out the bypass (so i can use all nav features and the passenger can watch dvds while driving) . My ipod touch is not compatible with the video interface but the music interface for it works great. If you have any other questions let me know.

Yes. From what I have been told from people on the other end, the sound quality is decent. However, I get some background noise because i mounted the microphone where the stock bluetooth on a 07+ grand touring mic. is. Because it is mounted against the plastic I get some of the wind/road noise that transfers through the body of the car. The voice dialing by number works great. The voice dialing by name did not work at first but I did the hack posted on avic 411 and it works near perfect now. My phone connects when I turn the car on but I have heard that blackberrys give trouble. Only issue is that sometimes ill have to turn my phone's bluetooth off and then back on again because the sound for some reason doesnt transfer to the pioneer.

Would this blow my factory (base model) speakers? I am juggling the idea of a GPS head unit but I don't want to mess around with replacing the speakers...

My Blackberry Pearl would wouldn't work even after the latest update. I sold the damn thing and bought a JVC KW-NX7000 instead which actually works much better.
