Default Ohio Gen Alternator

Here's my latest toy. She puts out around 110 amps at idle (750 RPM's) and maxes out at 221 amps right around 1900 RPM's. For comparison the stock alternator in a 350Z maxes out at 110 amps. I'm gonna have Rob over at Z car garage put her in next week Friday. Then the system that Bing just put in will be able to reach it's full potential. Right now if I crank it up I get dimming but this should fix that .

Was that the one from SGP Racing? If it was, I did give them a call before Ohio Gen but the guys at SGP knew jack sh*t about the alternator they were selling. They had no specific details about their alternator like what the ouput was at idle and what how high RPM's were needed to reach max output. That's the reason I didn't buy from them. I think you should at least have a little details about a product you carry .

Yes it is.

I agree. Well they are a reseller for Excessive Amperage, they should have at least told you that so that you could direct your questions to the manufacturer.

No, but I'm sure they can make one for your HR. Give them a call and talk to Gus, he'll hook you up.

Can you list the system specs so I can see exactly why you need an upgraded alternator other then the dimming. How much was it if you don't mind me asking? When I had an Acura Integra before, a 200amp alternator from iraggi cause me like 400$+.

Here's the link to the build. At full tilt my system puts out around 2500W. The alt cost a little over $500.

It's not really the wattage that matters but the max current your system it draws which your car will NEVER see.

Edit: Your equipment is definitely capable of putting a strain an stock Z's electrical system, so I agree that a high output alternator was definitely warranted.

I knew I needed an alternator because when I would play it at normal volumes my voltage would be steadily around 14.4V which means the alternator is still powering the system. When I would crank it up, the voltage would drop to a little over 12 volts which I think meant it was now drawing current from the battery as the alternator could not keep up.

Nice system, be careful with those TC10OEM's as the surrounds love to detach. Good choice in alternator as well, is your big3+ upgraded? What about a secondary battery? I remember when I had voltage dipping to the 10-11s. It wasn't pretty.

Already did the Big 3 a long time ago. I have no where to put a second battery which was why the HO alternator was definitely needed.
