grounding it doesn't work, i forget the specifics but you have to install a toggle switch or resistor then toggle the switch on then back off after you start the vehicle, i'm assuming they changed the system so that it has to see ground, power(or whatever the opposite term for ground is) then ground again, but simply grounding the wire on the avh4000 will not work(from what i've ready in every other thread about it.... i'll be installing mine in a week or two)

Sorry to break it to you brother but the simple wire swap that is available on all AVIC series Pioneer and Premier units is not available on any of the DVD screen units. This includes your 4000.
There are two things you can do:
1) Put a toggle on your green wire. It needs a momentary negative (or ground) 'pulse' to activate the safety bypass so you have to flick it on then off to get it to work. OR you can.....
2) Buy and program a PAC TR-7 to do a single negative pulse when you turn on the screen. This is the unit that most Alpines need to work as well.
Hope this helps.

85 and 87 = ground.
86 = Decks Remote turn on wire.
30 = parking brake wire from deck.
from http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/f...howtopic=20118 supposedly a regular 2 dollar relay will work fine instead of spending 20 on the pac relay

and you've tried installing it the way they have described above? cause they've supposedly done multiple installs with that setup and had it work
