Alpine navigation wiring
I am about to install an Alpine NVE-N852A DVD navigation unit in the stock navigation unit pocket and an Alpine TME-760 screen in the dash.
I know some have done this before and I was hoping would share the benefit of their experience on the best way to do the wiring. I have done a search, but could not find much on the actual wiring hookup.
1. Best way to access ACC circuit for 12V power? Some suggest back of cigarette lighter and this is what I plan to do unless someone has a better idea.
2. Where is the best place to connect to VSS speed wire? Color of wire?
3. Best place to connect to backup light wire?

The speed sensor is on the passenger side in the area where a normal glove box would be. There are several connectors in there, and I do not remember which one I hooked up to, but if you have a factory service guide, it should tell you.

One other thing, placing the system in the stock nav compartment is a ***** since it is not exactly DIN size. I had a difficult time getting it into the brackets and I still have not put the faceplate on since I need to do a little modifications to it.

MonkeyBoy
Thanks for the info! I have already ordered the Nissan manual and am waiting on it, but I was hoping someone with the actual experience could save me a headache or two.
Thanks for your tip on the navigation unit install. I thought THAT would be the easy part. Wrong again...

I wish I could help you out a little more, but I had someone install my setup (pretty close to MonkeyBoys) for me. I found a couple of threads that helped my installer, and hence may help you:
Tapping into Speed Sensor
Backup Light Wire
Jeremy's Alpine NAV/Screen install (in case you missed it).
By the way, you really don't need to access your Nav unit after it's installed, so you might consider putting it "somewhere out of sight". It can actually fit beside an Alpine CD changer in the "glovebox" (see below).
Good luck.

Crap! That's right, I completely forgot that the speed sensor is in the white box controlling the automatic climate control. I got it confused with the reverse light, which, oddly enough, is where I specified the speed sensor was earlier. Some people like to just tap into the lights themselves (I think), but I looked in the manual for the reverse light connector itself. Sorry for the confusion. The speed sensor is actually fairly easy to get at.
