I attached the remote to the passenger side - easier access, and so it is not blocking any switches...
I had the install done at Al & Ed's in Marina Del Rey, CA - they installed my original Nav, and the tech who did this has a Z himself (his 3rd) so I knew I'd be taken care of.

so you have a stock headunit and bought the nav as well as a connection box which means the screen will control the DVD nav and thats it so far right? but that connection box allows you to plug in tv tuner and stuff - so what are you going to do a reverse camera and tv tuner? what about playing mp3's and dvd movies and all that stuff? does that mean you are going to need a bajillion remotes for all those different things? why did you get this and not wait for the IDA-9000 or whatever its called that alpine is releasing? I wish Alpine had a 1din unit that did cd/dvd/mp3/wma and then you could hook up a separate monitor (all the new models from companies seem to be all in one and include a fold out monitor) and then offer a 1din dvd/cd changer that you could install so that the 350z would have both dins filled up and look factory oh well...

its a shame tha there is all that wasted space behind the lcd. it would be so cool ifyou could keep a version of that storage pocket, install the screen where you did, but have a mechanism so that you can hinge the screen down and store things behind the screen or something like that. haha you could hide drugs behind there no really tho it would be a great place to store things if the screen was the front part of the storage box and you could pull the screen down and the put things behind it...
if you wanted to add mp3 functionality, how would u do that? what if u didn't want a nav or anything and just wanted to have the stock stereo but with mp3? i like the stock headunit (aftermarkets don't look really good in the car yet) but right now i have an alpine 7897 in my jeep and couldn't live without the mp3's! what can you do?

nice install!!
I have the same setup.
Actually today, I had the dealership install an external amp b/c the sound from the tme650 wasnt loud enough. Its great now - except I CANT CONTROL THE output!! Arrg!.
I wonder where my control box is? Its NOT where yours is. Mebbe its behind the screen?
The moirror and auto reverse senseing wires are key IMHO - as it really makes this setup superior to the stock NAV (by a bit).
One thing i dont understand re: the alpine setup is that there's no provision to integrate the sound or get video output from an alpine branded HU.
Otherwise, I have NO complaints - fast and easy to use.
BTW gibbo - the NAV remote doubles as an alpine remote

Is there any way of locating the reverse wires closer to the nav box location? I realize that the easiest place to find them would be at the reverse lights, but that seems kind of far away, and also difficult to get to.

The connection box, which comes with the 760 and is required for it to work (read: yours may be hidden somewhere), has 4 inputs:
Audio/Video 1
Audio/Video 2
Audio/Video 3 (Can be wired with a single wire connected to the reverse lights to auto-switch for rear view camera)
Navigation.
So I have 3 free inputs.
The reverse leads from my nav come from the rear right reverse light and coincidentally run past the controller, so adding reverse camera functionality is easy.
The unit also has an output which can feed into an amp if you need to, or an external monitor (all in/out connections except the Nav have L/R/V connections). The output can be set onto one input, or can "follow" te screen's selection.
I didnt go with a "fold out" monitor because the car ride is so bumpy, I am sure the monitor would be toast in a year or so... this way its fixed and looks stock.
The remote has a slider switch on the left which switches it from Nav to an alpine remote. If I buy an Alpine head unit int he future, and its capable (the have some link term) it will all integrate just fine.
FOr MP3, I attach my Ipod to a casette adapter, and I's happy.
