A few months ago a buddy of mine (who is very familiar with installing audio setups) and I installed one into my car. Everything worked perfectly for about a month or so until all the speakers would stop playing music and would just pop constantly.
Yesterday I along with the lead audio installer at the local Best Buy installed a new deck and the problem was solved basicly until 5 minutes after I pulled away from the install bay.... This is a video of exactly what happens....
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/D1eJzl_jqls&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/D1eJzl_jqls&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Does anyone have any idea what it could possibly be thats causing this? It seems like something is just burning out my decks!
I have the Infinity 62.9I
behind the headrests, Infinity 60.9CS
in the doors, and Infinity 475A
behind the driver seat. Up until yesterday I had the Pioneer FH-P8000BT
for my deck and now its the Pioneer AVH-P4000DVD
. The entire amp install kit was the Rockford Fosgate RFK4D
. And Lastely all the speaker wires are Monster XP-CI100
.
Thanks

As pointed out, it's a ground issue. In your case it's most likely one of your power wires is grounding (and drawing excessively).
Are you blowing a/any fuse(s)? I would guess yes. If not (I would think you should be blowing a fuse), that means there is a significant wiring error.

That's not good. Sounds like bad wiring job or something grounding out - perhaps the back of the speaker or the (+)(-) is touching the door frame. I've seen people accidentally screw into a power cable too.
on running the cables directly from the amp to the speaker leads.
Lastly: Is your deck wired pre-amp out? You might be getting that if you have powered out running to your amp in as well.

I couldn't see the video but if all your speakers are popping I would unhook the back two speakers from the amp and see if the problem goes away. If it does, then hook up one of rear speakers back up and see if the problem comes back. If it doesn't hook up the final speaker and see if the problem comes back (by this point it should).
If you still have the same problem with the rears disconnected reconnect them and unhook the fronts. Do the same thing and see if you can isolate the problem to just one speaker - the investigate the wiring on that speaker.
If the problem never goes away between both tests (front only and back only) find a speaker laying around and hook it up with a short piece of wire directly to the amp. See if the added, independantly wired speaker pops. If it does you're looking at either a preamp or amp problem.
The basic theory here is simple, isolate each variable of the system until the problem goes away, then once the problem is identified fix the problem. This shouldn't be too hard to fix as it would almost have to be speaker level related (either preamp signal, the amp, or the speaker wires). I would be extremely surprised if it was a power problem.

Well I figured since everyone was saying bad wiring it had to be true, I remembered one day when the Best Buy installer was troubleshooting everything he ran into an issue where both rear speaker wires were unplugged from the amp and when he plugged in the left rear speaker wire BOTH REAR SPEAKERS TURNED ON!
Well I figured that had to have something to do with the problem and yesterday I ripped the car apart again to get to the rear speakers and realized that this part of the speaker pod had to be grounding out on the frame of the car

So I taped it all off with electrical tape and the problem appears to have been solved! Time will be the ultimate test. After driving for about a month and a half without audio because of my lack of knowledge and laziness to ask about the issue earlier Im very relieved its over.
Thanks for everyones help and advice!
