Im looking to add a 2 channel sub amp and two elemental design subs in my 08 touring and was trying to get input if anyone has had experience with the Scosche line output. It can be found here:Ahttp://www.crutchfield.com/p_142SLC4/Scosche-SLC4.html?tp=2001.

Crutchfield recommended using this to add the amp and subs. I tried looking up more adapters to use, but most seem to used for adding a aftermarket HU. I would like to keep the Bose HU for now to keep blue tooth until I have the money to upgrade. Ive searched, and didn't come up with anything else. Every thread I read seems to lead to the PAC adapter, but its either to add satellite radio, steering wheel controls, or to add a aftermarket HU. Another question is where do you hook up the remote wire for the amp also.

for using the OEM headunit, you dont really need something liek this, though of course, it can work fine..in the end, a LOC is a LOC. if you just need to add sub and sub amp, then you dont need a four channel LOC like this one, just a simple two channel would do...and those can be found all over the place.

just do a search for line output converter on ebay, and pick a half way decent brand

also, if your sub amp has high level inputs, you dont even need a LOC

THanks. If I were to buy the 2 line loc, do I hook up the remote wire to one of the wires comming off the stock Bose amp?

 

Remote or accessory will work.

I have used the Scosche piece and it works fine. Best thing you can do though is replace the deck and any Bose amplifier attached to it. That will come later though right?

 

Of course. I just can't afford the headunt I want right now, and want some decent bass in the mean time.

I wired up the basic schoshe one to add an amp to the factory sub in my Cobalt. Like others have said, they all do pretty much the same thing.

As for wiring it, tap whatever speaker wires you want to source from, run power to it, then run your RCAs to the amp or whatever other output you are using. Simple enough if you've ever done stereo work or any wiring like that before.

 

Thats not my problem, the problem is which of the 7 wires do I tap into?

There are 7 wires that go into the sBose ub amp, then there are two wires that go to the sub itself. Im guessing that One is power, ground, remote, and 4 speaker wires. But I cant find a diagram for which ones are speaker wires and which is - and which is +.

Got a test light? You can check for power at the wires with the key on or off and figure out which is which...

 

Well I finally found a schematic of the car, and I labeled the wires. I hooked it up and the subs didnt move. I guess I have to rewire the LOC some how. I wired it at the bose sub amp location behind the harness. Maybe I have to wire it in before the speaker amp on the rear channel?

 

Yeah, I would pick up the feeds pre-amp if possible, no reason to run it through the amp first.

You said the stock amp had a single pair coming out, what did you do with them? Only use one channel on the LOC, or split each into two?
