And so it begins... my first complete build
Bing said it best:
"the audiobuilds section is a bit dead, so figure i would post it in here "
im combining all of my posts and updates from the audio builds section
What im starting with:
Source:
Pioneer Premier F90-BT
The Goods:
1X JL Audio W7 10
1X JL Audio 500/1
1X JL Audio 300/4
1X Hertz HSK-163 3-way components
1X Tsunami 2 Farad Capacitor
2X Tsunami RCA's
Tsunami 4awg power and ground
Tsunami 8awg speaker wire 2X 6ft runs
Monster Audio 14awg THX Ultra600 speaker wire
Ok, so i had the W7 in the car for a bit and was very dissapointed with the clarity and output i was getting out of the ZEnclosure i had purchased. many have been very satisfied with their ZEnclosure's so maybe its just that the W7 dosnt like to be sealed or maybe i got a lemon or something even though it appeared to be made very well. either way, Its time for some porting action
i moddified the ZEnclosure pretty heavily.
TO HELL WITH TERMINALS, so i removed the terminals on the side opting for some straight 8awg wire running through a piece of mdf.
HORRAY PORTS, i added a slot port on the side with the terminals that had internal measurments of 4x1.5 (OD of 5.5x3) tuned to 32hz
since the w7 needs a 1" baffle and the ZEnclosure thats "made for the w7" only has a 3/4" baffle... time for a speaker ring
while im at it im going to make a port finisher on the outside so i dont just have a open hole.
recessing the x-overs in the amp rack with plexi and backlighting them
P.S. Dont hate on the monster stuff, its good **** and i got it on the cheap
•CL3 Rated for In Wall Installation
•70 FT of Length
•Heavy Duty DuraFlex Jacket for Maximum Protection
•LPE Dielectric Reduces Signal Loss & Large Gauge Precision Wound Strandings for Greater Overall Clarity
•Time Correct Windings and Patented Magnetic Flex Tube
UPDATE!
Heres the few i did manage to take before my camera got hijacked
MMMMmmmm 8awg
Dampen much?
Dohh! took too much carpet on the left of the ring
the x-overs will be at 60* angles on either end
yes i cleaned all of the saw dust off before i installed them
i feel kinda bad, in my flurry of installing stuff i found a blue under car kit and decided.... WHY NOT? so i added at least 8 more Rice points for that one... but hey, it looks good with the 8000k parking lights and the blue led's back lighting the x-overs
i need to expect more of the "hey Tokyo Drift (or DK), betcha that things fast" to which i always reply "My Ferrari is faster"
