Default Rear speaker question

The stock speakers in the back are 6.5's I was wondering if i could cut out a hole bigger to put a pair of 6x9's instead would I have the clearance to do that?

The existing cutouts and plastic trim are for 6 1/2 round speakers. Put the 6x9's on ebay and get round speakers.

Depends on budget. My $300 focals sound great to me but might sound like crap to you. Best thing to do is go to an audio shop and sample speakers in your price range

I agree with ditching the rears. Get a decent set of shallow front components and for the love of Jehovah, have them powered by a good sized amplifier (not deck amp).

I disagree with those who favor ditching the rears. During my build, I sat and listened to the system with Massive CK6v5's in front stage only, and with a rear stage added: MBQuart components. No contest.

I think this has to do with sound processing of your HU, and your own ability to appreciate sound coming from all corners. If you have your system tuned badly, rear fill can muddy the front sound stage. If it's tuned well, it does no such thing.

In order to tune mine, I mounted the front CK6 tweeters in the sail panel, and retained the 'eyeball' effect of the CK6 mounts: that is, I can move the tweeters to point in different directions. Same with the MBQuart tweeters, which I mounted in the rear strut bar cladding.

To me, front stage only sounded too one-dimensional.
