organ_donor you're the best thanks for the lecture, but if you were me and if you have a dnx-8120 in your hands and you need to replace your stock speakers what set of Alpine speakers would you get if you are planning to install a custom box with two 10 inch bass speakers in the back with a 1000 watt Alpine amp attached? assuming you are looking for a 2-way component.
thanks man

Have you searched this heavily discussed topic?
Check out www.the12volt.com for impendence explanations.

Any btw, I've installed Alpine Type-S speakers before and I'd recommend you install your sub the same day if you want any bass at all.

If you are running deck power then I would run neither. These Type R's require quite a bit of power and are pretty deep which could make it pretty hard for the install part.
The only component speakers I would run off of the deck (without using a separate amp) would be the Polk Audio DB6501 slim models. The don't need massive power, sound really good and are pretty easy to install into shallow spaces like our Z. If you really must get Alpine, then type S coaxials will run off the deck decently as they are more efficient than the Type R's
