Default Need help installing a viper 5901 alarm!

I just picked up a Viper 5901 and a XK07 Bypass. I have never done a alarm/starter install but have worked with alot of electronics.

My question is what else will i need to complete the install other than the alarm and bypass. Do i need any special resistors or anything else?

Any helpful tips from any installers on the forum would help out alot.

Thanks Trey Jones

NOT FREE you paid for it with the alarm. Best buy doesn't offer the viper 5901 this is the one with the 2 way LCD screen. I bought this complete unit to my door for 265$ and i also bought the bypass for 56$ shipped XK07.

I have 320 in the complete system.

They wanted 650 installed for a lower level system 5701 no lcd and less distance!

I haven't had too much luck with the XK07 working on the 350z's. You will need to flash it with the proper software for your vehicle, but they may have done that before they shipped it to you. Also if you have never installed a alarm or remote start system I probably wouldn't make this your first one. It's not that the vehicle is that difficult, but you will have to run wires into the drivers door for the locks and interface with quite a few wires at the BCM. You will need to run several wires into the engine compartment, mount a siren, hood pin, and interface with a wire at one of the ignition coils. You will need a tech sheet that shows where the wires are and what color they are. I've been installing alarms and audio equipment full time for 12 years and I just put that same system into a 2004 350z two days ago and it took me over 4 hours, and the xk07 didn't work. I ended up using a Directed 556UW with spare key because it was all I could get ahold of on short notice.

Actually, the 5901 can be installed on a manual transmission. Its actually the only one that I could find that a shop would install legally with a warranty. It has a bypass that wont let the car start if the emergency brake isnt pulled up. I assuming because most people who leave their car in gear dont use the e-brake. I wouldnt know because I never leave my car in gear. This is my second manual Ive owned with a remote start.

i got it installd used bypass IM07 which is identical to the xk07 wired it up worked first time.

The rest of the alarm install was pretty easy the programming was a little trick at the start but ended up getting it all going smoothly.

The only trouble i had was getting the trunk release to work right. I eneded up not being able to find the ground trigger wire. I uesed the positive with a resistor and ended up losing my push button on the bumper. if anyone has any questions ill try to answer the best i can. I had about 8 hours in the install.

I'm about to order a remote starter.
Should I purchase the XK07 (which doesn't seem to be working in this thread) or another module?
Please advise! THANKS!
