Yeah, I have been looking for something like this. I actually built one for my other car that took location data from a gps reciever and sent the location out via amatur radio freq to my home. I have a tnc at home that recieves the data and displays my cars location on a map. And NO service fees! But you have to have an amatur radio licence to operate on those freqs.

The service plan for this gps 2000 says $48 for inital activation, and that comes with 150 uses and expires after 1 year. So if you don't use it too much its only 50 dollars a year, that sounds fair to me! I just wonder how much the hardware is, it cant be too expensive. Its got to be a gps reciver and a cell phone type unit that sends the location over a wireless network. Im going to call my insurance agent and see if thier are any discounts for having something like this...

I have a GPS 2000 as well. It will be a year in December since I've had it installed. Just a nice feeling to know you can use it if you have the need.
