I own:
Escort X50 Blue (Rev 5)
Escort SRX
Escort 9500ix
And
Valentine 1 3.864
I have also owned many bel RD's as well, including the RX65 and the Vector 985.
The V1 is the most sensitive RD I have ever owned. It amazes me often. On the open hwy, it's awesome. In the city, it requires heavy K-band muting to keep it quiet. (I don't even turn X-band on with my V1.)
The ix is a "solid" detector that will generally detect police radar with ample time to slow down, but it has only "amazed" me a couple times. (Two separate over-the hill encounters.)
If you want to kill 99% of false alarms in the area you drive, the i or ix can do it. (Uses GPS "lockout") It is the quietest detector I have ever owned.
*NOTE* My 9500ix has "locked out" two different cops in the 15k miles I have used it in my work vehicle. It's rare, but it can and does happen.
If you want to detect radar from as far away as possible, and are willing to live with more false alarms, the V1 is the one to have.
BTW if money is no object, the new 9500ci seems to have even better detection than V1. (But it is a custom installed unit, with laser-jamming, that costs $1600 + install.)

However GOL testing is "worst case" testing. They find the largest, brightest, hardest-to-protect vehicles to test jammers on.
I have tested the ZR3, on my Z, against every police gun in the US, except the new Truspeed gun that is just now hitting the streets. (I have tested my ZR4 against it on my wife's Scion tC and it does well.)
My point, however, is that the Z is not that hard to protect, and my ZR3 protcts it just fine. (As long as I don't run into a Truspeed, a LA in "stealth mode" or a "point blank" shot.)
So, if you want to be 99.9% sure police can't get a laser reading on your Z, get an LI quad.
If you want to save some money and are willing to live with about a 3-5% chance of a laser ticket, the newer ZR4 (part of the 9500ci) will do well on a Z.
