Hi guys,

I'm a new member here as I just obtained a 06 enthusiast. I've been reading a ton about audio/video installs in this car and it looks like very few 06's have had a 7" screen in the upper cubby. I'm looking to spend under $2000 to get a new head unit for my double din spot and navigation working up in the cubby hole. I don't need any amps or subs. I'm just looking for any new information you guys might have regarding what I want to do (I've read all the old threads). I know the 03 cubby's don't fit too well.

If I want touchscreen interface on the upper screen do I need to go with the Kenwood 702 and appropriate navigation controller? Is there a nav system with a 7" screen with built in controller?

I'm pretty good at technical things and especially electronics. I don't mind doing a little bit of fabrication. Even though I have a high budget I'd like to spend as little as possible so I can use the money on other things for the car. Thanks in advance guys.

edit: by the way, I'll post pictures and detailed instructions as I do the install. There doesn't seem to be a lot of info on the 06-08's out there.

 

The 06+ is a different animal because the non navigation cubby doesnt make it easy to put a monitor there. Your best bet is to buy an 06+ navigation console (there is no door). From there you have a couple of different options.

Both options let you send a movie or navigation to the upper screen. The obvious difference is if you want to have multiple screens or not.
