Kenwood KOS-L702 vs DDX812
No. You simply connect the direct antenna lead, and power the unit with any good positive and ground wires.
Instead of posting a lengthy explanation, I'll direct you to this link that provides a great deal of information:

I patronize Crutchfield since this is just a wonderful seller who consistently provides very good help for your projects. You sometimes (but not every time) pay a little more for products you buy from Crutchfield, but you always get the very best service here. Also... Crutchfield consistently provides "orphan" solutions you won't get anywhere else.
I highly recommend Crutchfield with no reservations what so ever.

To power it, I was trying to use the red and black wire from my rear power point, and then a ground to chassis. It does not seem to be powering on, any suggestions of what I might be doing wrong? I am now also realizing it might be a challenge to set the kos to mp3 without some sort of display. I only need to set it once, though as I have no plans to change it to anything else. So, it might be a matter of trial and error.
Spike, I had just gotten my kos-a200 and am having some power issues. I was hoping you or someone might have some solutions. I am currently only using the kos, and no other device other than my iphone.

Also… when adding new electronic devices in modern cars, it is important that you disconnect the battery. This is important to protect your car’s wiring and the device’s electronics, but it serves another purpose. Many devices won’t recognize additional components without a complete power off/power on. That’s simply because they have a connection to constant power (usually a yellow wire) to store configurations. If you change the configuration (adding a component is an example), you need to do a “reboot” (not unlike what your computer requires when doing a restart). You “reboot” your car and all of its devices by disconnecting the battery, and you do that before adding the new device.
I’m not sure this message is helpful,

Thanks for the reply. Its sounding like I need to look for a yellow wire instead of using the black wire from the power point. I guess I can just tap into the wires behind the radio. I might go look for an extension harness so I don't hack up the oem harness.
Looks like they don't make patch harnesses for radios like they do for ecu's. So I may just have to tap into the wires behind the radio. I am now looking into wiring diagrams so I can sort out what wires are needed to power this things properly.
I got the power sorted and the lines run. I used #10 and #6 on the radio harness for my power and grounded to the main bracket. It turns on, but it seems that I can not use my iphone as an USB input device so I am going to get a cable that will convert stereo to a ipod connection. I saw one online by monster that also allows you to charge the ipod.
EDIT: It is not made by monster, it was extremely mac.

I may look for a cheaper solution first.

Hopefully one of you can help me, but it not I will start a new thread. I have a KOS-a200. I got it installed properly and I can hear the beeps over the speakers that everything is working, but my current problem is that I do not have any way to display the controls of the KOS. So I need someone with this device to give me a hand to activate the the aux 1. What I need is the sequence of buttons I need to input to get to where I can activate the aux input. So anyone that could point me in the right direction would be great help.
