Kenwood KOS-L702 vs DDX812

The nice part of the setup you are evaluating is two LCD's displaying images, and a very versatile setup. The Z is one of the few cars supporting two LCD screens providing additional and useful function, and a great “look.”

If ca$h is a little tight and you want to install the Kenwood DDX812 right now into the double-din slot, and want navigation: Install the KNA-G510 Navigation Box into one of the rear/small/upper cubbies behind the driver/passenger seats and connect the nav box to your DDX812. Your nav display is a little low for optimum viewing, but you can do this (providing navigation at the double-din slot) until you have the ca$h to install the Kenwood LZ-702W Touch Screen Monitor for better and safer viewing/operation.
Just another thought…

^^ That's a good point and you are correct.
But, consider just running the wiring for your components that you don't install now but plan to add later. If the wiring (power and A/V wiring) is in place, your final installation cost won't be much more past the cost of your added components. I do this with every project so that the "extensions" are added inexpensively.

i use my lz 702w for navi and back up camera only. and i use my ddx head unit on bottom to play all my music videos and ipod only.
IMO i think its pointless to WANT navi+videos to stream through both units.
why would you want navi on bottom screen when you can have it on top for a better view?
why would you want videos to be played on top screen when most states, its illegal to play videos/movies when your car is moving? playing videos from your cubby makes it easier for a passing police officer to spot it.
but having your navi running in the cubby is very much legal in all states.
i think this way is best, unless you are rich or something or constantly in shows or whatever. you dont needa be playing 2 movies at a time from both screens.

Kenwood Unit
I'm looking to put in the KOS-L702 with the nav box and the AV control unit in my 04 350Z. Do you still have them for sale and how much are you looking for them. Also, why are you selling them?

Hello all, I am trying to get some clarification on the KOS-L702. Its seems to be pretty reasonably priced second hand. I have an 03 and do not have bose. I am wanting to be able to plug in my iphone so I can listen to it through my car radio. Is the KOS-L702 a good solution for this? If so, can I get the unit on its own or will I need more components or a special harness to make it work?
I have no interest in changing my head unit which is why I am looking into these solutions.
Thanks for any help.

KOS-L702 LCD Touchsreen Monitor
KOS Controller V-1000
By itself, the KOS-L702 LCD is just a monitor, and its touch screen functions only operate the monitor and its settings.
When you add a KOS Controller, you create a sophisticated and scalable CES that allows connecting a plethora of Kenwood and other manufacturers’ devices (navigation, DVD players, rear view camera, iPod, etc.). You connect the devices to the KOS Controller, and operate these using the touch screen function in the KOS-L702 LCD.
Here is a thread that explains this:
https://my350z.com/forum/audio-build...pics-here.html
Hope this helps, but certainly ask if you have additional questions.

Thanks for clearing that up. I am not interested in a screen, I guess I posted the wrong KW number. The KOS-A200 is what I really need to know about.
I am just interested in a controller I can some how tap into my system so I can listen to my iphone in the car. Would the A200 be a solution for this?

The KOS-A200 provides an easy way to connect devices to your car’s factory H/U. It’s a little better than a FM Modulator since the device allows a hard-wire connection to the factory H/U’s antenna input (instead of just broadcasting to the car’s physical antenna) if your factory H/U suipports this. However, even with this improvement, you suffer from some amount of degeneration.
The KOS-A200 is meant for buyers who want a less costly solution than the KOS Controllers (V-1000 and V-500). Of course the extra cost of the KOS Controllers gets you a great radio (but that duplicates a device you already have if you retain your car’s factory radio) and direct connection for a wider range of Kenwood and aftermarket devices.
If your goal is not producing the best sound, and you want to retain your stock H/U (you don't want or need Kenwood's great radio) while adding connection capabilities, the KOS-A200 is a decent solution. Kenwood has upgraded this device to the KOS-A300, which offers better sound and better direct connectivity to more factory H/U’s.

BTW: Kenwood does solve this by providing a navigation black-box that you can shoot to any monitor, and do the navigation functions/controls using the remote monitor.

Instead of posting a lengthy explanation, I'll direct you to this link that provides a great deal of information:
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113KOSA...&ssi=0&tp=1672
I patronize Crutchfield since this is just a wonderful seller who consistently provides very good help for your projects. You sometimes (but not every time) pay a little more for products you buy from Crutchfield, but you always get the very best service here. Also... Crutchfield consistently provides "orphan" solutions you won't get anywhere else.
I highly recommend Crutchfield with no reservations what so ever.

I also wish that was possible. I doubt Kenwwod has plans for this (allowing both shooting the navigation video to a remote monitor and controlling the the navigation functions on the remote monitor with the DNX-8120) since it's an "orphan" request that comes from a very small segment of Kenwood's buyer-population.

Yes... the Kenwood KNA-G510 can shoot it's navigation video to a variety of Kenwood products where you control the unit using touch screen function or a handheld remote control.
BTW: The Kenwood KNA-G510 is an OEM Garmin device (GVN series).
