Where to sound deaden..
Got 9sheet of dynomat for 100$.. not to bad a deal..So im going to try it myself..
Earlier in the month had a shop look at it and was thinking about having them deaden my car for me.. He started tapping away for the biggest rattle points.. said the Roof was the worst.. I am just thinking of doing the doors and the trunk/hatch... Will this be good enough?
Also I didnt get the roller.. As far as I am concerned I dont think it will be that hard to fnd a replacement roller*doh* but all is there anything else i should know before applying dynamat other than cleaning it with rubbing alcohol first?
Any other tips on little places where to place the mat? ; Also Should you place the dynmat behind the window track*right on the backside of the door* or the metal infront of the tracks.. or both? *Im thinking both...derr

how many layers depends on thickness of the material. thin ones, i would use 3 layers.

You'll need some sort of closed foam cell barrier in order to cut down some road noise. I highly doubt dynamatting itself would do much for road noise.
And as for where to sound deaden. The whole interior if you got enough. Roof, Doors, Floors, Hatch, everything interior.

Anyone's who's driven without the passenger seat will hear a lot road noise permeating through the cabin floor. The Dynamat type stuff (Fatmat to be exact) doesn't really work for sound coming from my hatch, but it did wonders with rattles.
I went a different route for the floor:
I placed a couple layers of cell foam Edead v.4 Teklite (from Elemental designs) and my old z mat under the passenger seat. It's noticeably quieter and I have yet to do the driver's side.

Was thinking of doing the hatch area just to cut down on noise.
Sounds like i need to reconsider and do the hump under the cubbies.
How they could release a car that is this noisy is beyond me.
Anyone who has done this step by step have an area that cut the noise the most noticebly? Looking to do it step by step. Read a pretty awesome review that someone posted on here about the different brands. Looking into the Rammat.

I'm in the same boat as some of you guys. I'm going to go for the challenge of doing this myself and hoping I don't totally F up my car.
Somebody said 100sq ft. Is that enough to do the rear all the way to the firewall?
This has been a good thread for me.

Do I just remove the 4 bolts on each corner of the door to remove it?
Thanks

2 cans of "spray in bedliner" from Pepboys. One can for each door. 2 sheets of generic dynomatt for the trunk, plus another can of "spray in bed liner"...

If you have a coupe, you need to put sound deadening in the rear cargo floor (paying special attention to the rear wheel wells which are inside the car and allow road noise to enter the car just as you experience with a stationwagon). You can use sound deadening sheets or spray-on solutions. Spray-on-rust-proofing products applied from the outside to your rear wheel wells also reduce road noise.
You also need to add sound deadening to the pedestal behind the driver/passenger seats. Sheets or rolls of sound-deadening work best here.
Sound deadening in the doors is mostly to prevent “rattling” from the speakers since there is little road noise that enters via the Z’s doors.
A complete solution adds sound deadening to the floor under the driver and passenger seat. This would be sheets, rolls, or spray-on products.
Or… you could buy a G35/37 coupe.
