Default My Install

Hey guys, I'm new to the forums and I just bought my 04 not too long ago (maybe a month) and I've been working on the audio setup since. Thought I would share my progress with you guys, incase there are some out there looking for ideas. I pretty much have it all done, except for the fact that I sold 2 of my amps and im waiting on the one that I just bought. All my amps will be Hifonics and my sub is a single Fi Q 12. My components are Hifonics as well. The entire hatch and hatch door as well as driver and passenger doors are sound deadened with Edead. So here are the pics. Tell Me what you guys think so far.

I sold the 2 black Monoblock Alpines because they could not power the Fi Q. So I have a Hifonics 1608D on the way. If I am still not satisfied with the bass, I will get a 10 inch Fi Q and put it where the stock bose sub was and get another 1608D.

Are you worried about having cancellation issues if you ran two subs? Also, i doubt the frequency response of two differently sized subs will be matched... might sound a little funny.
Since you are using the entire trunk, why not just put two 12"s in there? or one 15"? Pretty sure that would be enough for anyone =)

i tried to do that but the thing is if i put 2, the wiper motor wil hit the right side one. and there is not enough cu. ft. for 2 fi q's. and a 15 will not fit because of its space requirement AND its deeper mounting depth. yeah your probably right about the 10... we'll see what happens.

Looks good. Let me know how that fi q sounds. I was thinking of getting either an fi q or IDmax. Also, your stock electrical will not be able to handle another 1608.

thanks Will, the Q sounds amazing in my opinion. it hits the lows very well, but it could use a tiny bit of work on the mids, but i guess thats why i have my components. its very clean if u tune the amp right (DMM) and your right about the electrical system. well the Z has a 110 amp alternator, which i plan on replacing with a 190 amp plus another dry cell for the amps. let me know if u have any suggestions. thanks guys.

I'm running the 1608d and the zues right now. I can tell u by experience that ur on the right track wanting to update the electrical system. This amp really puts a strain on the 110 amp alternator. Im will be getting a 200 amp alternator built soon. I had a cap but had to get a 2nd battery and an optima up front. The 2nd battery made a really big difference but 200 amp alt will be a even better improvement.
But even without the 200 amp alt this amp performs really well. Especailly, considering the size of the Z. Im running 2 12's at a 1 ohm load and its more than enough for most peoples taste but I will be upgrading my subs so I can turn the amp up alittle louder.

Sincere, How did you manage to fit 2 12's in there? i tried everything BUT taking the spare out with the foam so i have more space to build a deeper box. is that what you did? i only have the single Q and i WAS feeding it 1000rms but it has the BP power option so im looking to fed it about 400 more watts, hoping that i will be satisfied. i'm very disappointed that i only have 1 sub, im so use to having 2. i think thats why im not satisfied with the bass. anyway, let me know how u fit 2 in there, i would appreciate that VERY much

Im located in Crystal. I know the box looks big, but its actually pretty shallow. the magnet of the Q almost hits the bottom of the box. the volume is actually closer to 2 cubes.

if thats a 12 then there is at least 1.5 ft on either side combined

and say 9" deep

and 1.5 ft top to bottom

thats 2.5 x 1.5 x 0.75

thats already 2.81ft^3

what i was trying to get at is..... measure your damn box and know the airspace because your already over the reccomendation for a ported enclosure.... much less sealed

Im using a fiberglass box made by TC Customs. It fits in front of the strut bar so u can keep ur trunk and spare. The box is 2.40 sqft and has a depth clearance of 8 inches. They color matched it for me also. This is the only 12 inch box I could find that had decent volume and clearance. The only bad thing is that I personally wish they offered it in vinyl because painted fiberglass is a little flashy for my taste.
Im temporaryly using some old Audiobahn subs I had in a previous vehicle. They are 700 rms each with 4 ohm dual voice coils. I will be replacing them with Kicker CVX 12's.
