I'm about to purchase a refurbished DDX812 off ebay, a lot of great deals on eBay. Not sure about Pioneer but you may not get a warranty if you do not purchase from an authorized dealer. Definitely something you might want to look into if you want a warranty.

You should ask the eBay Seller these questions. If the seller has good feedback, you can trust the answers.

I have this unit, although I bought it and had it installed by BestBuy. Great HU, does all it's advertised to do. Small problem with DST...Pioneer never changed the date to the 1st Sunday in March, so the unit will show the wrong time for about two weeks until the 3rd Sunday in March. Look for an update before we go back to standard time.

The seller on eBay looks legit, and judging from his feedback he's trustworthy. Bottom line, pay through PayPal and you'll have no problems. They will take care of you if the deal goes south.

Lastly, make sure the unit he's selling has the latest firmware update (2.0). Otherwise you'll have to update the unit yourself after install.

Ive bought 3 headunits off ebay. 1 pioneer and 2 jvcs. Ive never had any problems. The factory warranty is only valid from an authorized dealer so u might want to check on that. Some sellers will also offer their own warranty or one from a third party for a small fee.

Over the years, I've purchased several headunits from ebay. New, not refurb.

Most recently, I purchased the AVH-P4000DVD... no probs so far.. knock on wood...
