Default Anyone having problems with Sirius X/M devices after the merger?

I’ve been a Sirius subscriber since about day one. My Clarion Sirius receiver stopped working about the time that Sirius and X/M announced their merger.

Sirius tells me that my Clarion receiver is the problem, and suggests buying a new device.

Anyone else encountering this?

No, my wife's built in XM is working fine. I haven't noticed any change in my cheap little Audiovox either.

check over at XMfan.com, hardware forum (they cover Siri too now). I havent heard of this. The upside is that since SiriXM has been teetering on the brink of bankruptcy, replacing your tuner will be very inexpensive. I read they signed on over a million subs last year during this quarter, but only 80,000 this quarter. So tuners are *cheap*. I just changed radio brands and scooped up a *new* tuner for JVC for $25 shipped off ebay. Of course that means I'll be giving away my Pioneer XM tuner and OEM nissan tuner (new stereos for both cars), but still, it beats $100+ tuners.

Thanks guys.

It's probably a hardware problem with my Sirius receiver. It's old.

I'm going to wait a little longer before replacing this in case there's additional features added in the near future.

I'm about to yank out my OEM Clarion Xm receiver very soon.. planned on posting it here on the cheap. But, I do know that you can't have a XM tuner on a Siri account.

I dunno, I have my doubts about next gen equipment with them. the next killer app will probably be net based. of course, that has a long way to go as well.. sat radio covers areas that dont even have dialup yet, much less 3g.

I think it’s reasonable to expect satellite radio and GPS function to become an integrated feature.

We already have Sirius/XM audio/video feeds and XM Traffic. The next best step is taking this to an integrated GPS function with maps, satellite view, and street-view (so you can look at what’s around you and compare this to a transmitted image on your LCD screen).

It’s a different paradigm, but certainly possible. They already own adequate bandwidth.

It's not bidirectional and terrestrial repeaters are the only way they can localize content. GPS positioning wouldnt help them. Actually, I'm sure SiriXM could still do some fairly innovated things, but they are their own worst enemy. Other companies have been eyeing their equipment, it could be used in a different capacity. So, if it was sold off or taken over, they could chose to do something else with the sats. Although their ONstar and Honda agreements could get messy

I'm replacing my OEM tuner with aftermarket. So, I still support them.. I just dont have high expectations anymore, both in content or life expectancy.

^^ It isn’t the equipment they own that interests other companies, but rather the ownership of the frequencies the company won in FCC auctions. That’s the company’s real asset.
