Default Ipod not compatible w/ avic d3

I have problem getting my ipod(s) to work with my avic d3. I tested out two ipod gen 2 nano and only one of it seemed to work. My g/f gen 6 nano works fine but does not charge. I recently bought a gen 3 nana (square looking ipods) and it does not work either but when i had my avic installed the owner tested his gen 3 nano and it worked fine.

Can someone help me find the issue b/c i can't seem what the issue is and i'm not planning on buying another ipod to see if it works.

thanks.

See if their are any updates available for your ipod. Mine has quit working on me twice, and plugged it up...update and it worked just fine after.

I was about to suggest the same thing. I had a similiar problem, updated the ipod to the newer software version available and it worked like a charm...

That's strange, my girlfriend iPod nano works on my D3. I have a 5th gen iPod that I have all my music on and stays in the car at all times. Maybe you should try something like that?

The problem is that Apple, in all its divine wisdom, decided at some point to change the voltage requirements for the Ipod charging system. (You see? Microsoft isn't the only company that doesn't think things through all the way.) This has caused backward compatibility issues with a bunch of products that claim to be Ipod ready. Really, the best you can do is either buy a head unit that works with the voltage of whatever version of the Ipod that you have is, or buy an Ipod that works with the voltage of your head unit. You'll be hard pressed to find a software solution to this.

well i found out that the ipod only works "sometimes" with my d3. I notice that there are times when i plug the ipod into the avic it would have a yellow oval w/ an apple logo on it but nothing happens. and there are times when it says pionoeer and that's when it works. =\. And when it does work, it works great until i make a sudden movement at where i plug the ipod.

if you're saying it works until you move the ipod then maybe there's a break in the wire in the cord??? or maybe there's just something wrong with the connector at the bottom of your Ipod.
