Anything that doesn't have a enclosed box(sealed or ported) isn't going to sound nice. I would recommend getting yourself a box specifically made for the Z. As for a sub, too many too list. What are you looking for? Sound wise?

Free air subs are a waste.

You also need a set budget. Audio can add up very quickly.

+1 on setting a budget and planning out what exactly you are looking for. This forum has an abundance of info. Check Zenclosures.com for boxes that are made for the Z and just spend some time searching. Good luck and have fun

+1 on using the compartment behind the driver's seat. Don't bother.
Zenclosures - check ebay. Nicely made, decent price, options for 1 or 2 drivers and amp rack.

I just did I subwoofer install in my roadster along with a pioneer head unit.
I was hard headed and decided to try to seal the chamber behind the stock location. So after I did I mounted my RF P3 10" there and it sound like sh*t!

After that I put my sub in a ported box and threw it in the trunk and WOW!! What a difference a box can make instead of free floating.

BTW, I'm running 500W @2ohms. My kenwood amp is a class D 1000W max. The sub and the amp together cost me under $400 along with the wiring.

Good deal if you ask me, my car rumbles with bass I even have the bass boost turned down.

I cant believe that in a roadster it siounds great from the trunk, thats awesome! I have the roadster too and is it fair to say that it would sound best behind the driver seat in a sealed box rather than the trunk or is the sound the same you would say? No competition or anything just nice sounding musical bass, thanks!

Yeah I figure that behind the seat would hit a little harder. I want to put the sub behind the seat but custom work (or the expensive cas box) is required so that's something that I'll tackle later. The good thing is that there is a big hollow spot between the cabin and the trunk, so sound gets through pretty good. The conv top doesn't stop the bass from going through at all.

I gotta say though, i was a little worried about the sound not getting through and getting nothing but rattle in the back and no sound in the front, I'm glad that it wasn't the case.
