help choosing speakers
I have done research and searched through the forums and other forums as well. But this is my first system build so I need help.
I need help in picking a system. My current Kenwood kdc-mp238 with iPod adapter is just not enough anymore. I would like to order a single JL audio 10w7 and enclosure from ZEnclosures w/ amp rack and use a 500/1 JL audio amp. I need help in picking component speakers. I would like the amp to be JL audio but speakers can be anything up too $300. What type of speakers used with JL amp would fit this?
Next week I will order a Kenwood DDX7019 or Kenwood DDX8019 for the bottom and a Kenwood LZ702W with KNA-G510 and CCD-2000 for the top
Does this sound like a good setup or should I give it another try?

For your components I like Pioneers TS-c720PRS for something under $300.00. Retail for 550 but can be had online for around 280. Car Audio and Electronics Magazine rated them the steal of the year back in Dec of 2006. I think they sound really good, not your supper high end stuff but very good speakers for the money IMO.

For components, look at the Diamond Audio HEX D600s are an AMAZING set for the price. You can find them for about $290. But driving only 75 rms to these components is a little shy of the recommended rms. The Pioneer TS-C720PRS want 50 rms watts, so your 75 watts from the amp would be good with them and even give you a little overhead.
Honestly, why not just go with a set like the Zapco i-6.2. You can get them for $180 and they want 80 rms watts.
And could I ask why you are so set on a JL 10w7? Not trying to start anything here, but rather trying to see if maybe something else would fit your needs better.

^^ These are the speakers I have in my Z installed in the now discontinued Zenclosures door pods. I like them a lot. They are very clean and the crossovers have been very well designed. Just make sure to purchase the silk tweeters (d661s) and NOT the aluminum tweeters (d661a). The aluminum tweeters are just too bright.......at least for my taste.
fck the w7.. buy one of these.. half the price and twice the performance
