hey guys,
i'm just hooking up the wiring harness for my kenwood double din(ddx6017) and there are two wires left on the harness adapter side that I'm wondering about...
a)amplifier turn-on(blue/white)
b)amplifier ground
now on the kenwood's wire harness, there is a blue/white wire that, according to kenwood's manual, is for "Power control wire, when using optional power amplifier, connect to its power control terminal"
now, i am doing this install for JUST the head unit, am NOT installing my amp/subwoofer...may not even sell the amp/subwoofer if the deck and upgraded speakers sound good enough to me...
do I need to connect these wires? is it even for an aftermarket amplifier? or for the built in amp in the deck itself?
and I do NOT have the bose system for those that may want to know...
my metra dash kit hasn't come in yet, so I'm not gonna install it until it does...so just wondering what to do with the blue/white wire...
oh and just to be sure, I do NOT need to buy the radio adapter correct? another member on this forum told me it's not necessary, but the guy at the shop keeps saying I will need it...can anyone confirm? I remember that I did need it in my s14(1995), but figured that the newer cars didn't need them...

i have the factory Bose and installed the Pioneer 3100(also double din) i didnt use either of those wires, i just sealed them off and put them to the side...
as for radio adapter, im not to familiar with kenwood, but i DOUBT if u need to buy an adapter(note: i needed to buy RCA splitters in order to have sound in all my speakers and factory sub) but u dont have Bose so u shouldnt have that problem!

Dude what the hell is a radio adaptor??
The only radio adaptor in any cars i know of is a female to male antenna wire plug adaptor that makes aftmrk radio plug larger for those vehicles that have a larger stock plug. Never heard of anything different. So no, u dont need it whatever it is.
And yes, u can leave 2 wires taped off, but dont cut in case u decide to get amp.

The blue wire with white stripe is the Remote Turn on Lead. It merely sends power signal to an aftermarket amp to "turn on". If you ever get an amp it will become obvious, until then its disconnected. And also (not the Z obviously) but if you had an antennae that was power up down with radio turn on it would be used for that as well.
<---is aware others stated you didn't need it just thought I would share what it does.
