What kind of amps / how many do I need?
Featuring 2 12" Alpine Subs (http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500SWR1...2D.html?tp=111) & 2 10" JL Audio Subs (http://www.crutchfield.com/p_13610W1...-4.html?tp=111)
I asked this question on yahoo and i just wanted to get a second opinion, this was the guy told me:
You WILL need two Monoblock amplifiers since the 12`s are dual 2 ohms and the 10`s are Single 4 ohms.
Get this amp for the Alpine Type R`s.
http://www.woofersetc.com/p4738/PDX1...-Amplifier.htm
That amp is perfect for the 12`s. Wire the voice coils in series and the subs in parallel for a 2 ohm load.
Get this amp for the JL Audio 10`s
http://www.woofersetc.com/p5478/PDX1...-Amplifier.htm
Perfect for the 10`s. Alpines PDX line is excellent.
...Also if someone wouldn't mind explaining to me, how exactly do you know what kind of amp you need to get?

4 subs in a z? you'll be needing an alignment............
i run one kicker solobaric (square) 10" in an enclosure that tucks underneath my rear strut bar like the zenclosures do. it's a dvc 4ohm, running at 2ohm mono off a kicker zx400.1. hits plenty hard. harder than most two ten set-ups and some dual 12" set-ups. z's don't need a ton of subs, they're hatchbacks, which by nature play louder since there's nothing obstructing the bass from entering the cabin.
if you're stuck on multiple subs, take into consideration a few things: space is limited to begin with, so choose whether to take it all up with subs/amps, or go for a good quality set-up that leaves you with some usable space. there's not much of a medium or in between to choose from. second, consider the additional weight you'll be adding with more subs, amps, and a larger enclosure. your performance will be affected accordingly. also, keep in mind the access to your spare etc.
i built an amp rack like the one's the zenclosures has and it houses the zx400.1 and two zx400.2's for the mids and highs. kicker components in the front and rears, with no tweets in the rear to help the soundstage. get good power to your mids and highs so you don't have to over-drive them to get volume out of them. you'll be much happier and you'll save money in the end if you just build the system right the first time instead of going back through and finding out you don't have enough, or it's too much etc.
everyone's preference on sound is different, some like more bass, some mid/highs etc. me, i personally could care less if a car shakes the windows from 4 blocks away but you can't make out a word of the music. i'd much prefer a system you can hear the words from 4 blocks away than just bass. and better yet, if you can hear both equally with a good soundstage and clarity. 4 subs in a z's been done, and it's ridiculous.

+1. Started to read but didn't finish. Mostly because he made no substantial points up to the point I read. Oh, and he seems proud of a solobaric. LOL.

, only I'm not proud of it. Where's my prize? Hope it's not some pos kicker equipment or audio advice so obvious it can hardly be called advice. Thanks for playing, sorry but you do not qualify for any prizes.
