Head unit install questions
Ok I've got two quetions (probably due to my stuipidity and frustration).
I've got an '08 Z coupe and I'm trying to install a radio.
1. I can't get the stupid gauge clip out. I've tried squeezing, heck I even took some snub nose pliers to the damn thing, and got my dad (a trained mechanic) to try and take it out. Damn thing won't budge. Any ideas? Is there something I'm supposed to push down somewhere to release it?
2. The radio seems to be attached to the dash with plastic clips? They don't look like they pop out though, do I just break them off?
Alright, hopefully I can get some help getting this radio installed, really annoying not having my MP3 player not working. lol
Thanks!
BTW, yes, I'm reading the instructions, it just say squeze front and back sides, but like I said, even doing that with pliers didn't work...

That is odd. I have taken my bezel off at least a dozen times and that plug has never given me a problem. I don't want to insult your intelligence, but have used the pliers on all sides? And you are talking about the end of the wire that goes directly into the gauges right?
I just replaced my headunit and the gauge plug was the easiest one to unclip. It does have a small tab to depress when pulling to unlock it.
My stereo was held in with 4 screws which you should see once you get everything unplugged and the whole center stack out of the car.
Be sure to be gentle. I had mine sitting on a towel and still managed to scuff the plastic on the cubby door.

I got it, I was pushing on the loop that was above the actual clip you had to push down to get it to come out.
I guess things go better when you're not doing them in the middle of the night in pitch black dark.
