question on subs
just wondering what would you add first. 10in sub and amp. then go back and add amp later for the rest of the system. would like to improve bass sound first is why i asked. on a budget. already installed alpine deck.

I personaly would add components first because for me the stock speakers produce enough base until they reach a volume where distortion is present. I feel like a sub would over power the stock components and would not be appreciated unless the stock speakers could play louder without distortion.
But that's just me.

Agreed! Add components where you will get quality in sound then see if you want to add bass. I always thought that stereos sound like junk if they have a stock system and add a sub, not a very well balanced system.

Sorry guys i guess i did'nt make myself plain. already have alpine xm cd player with 4 alpine speakers installed but no sub. though i did unhook the back speakers like some suggested on this forum seemed to help. i guess question would be put my money first into a 10in sub and amp then check into amps late for front speakers or would sub and amp over power 2 front speakers. sorry for the novel, new at this.

I have to 2nd this suggestion. You won't need to amp the rear speakers, so you can use the rear side of the 4ch to run the sub. A single amp system is simple to install and simple to troubleshoot if any problems arise.

Thats why i joined this forum! Thanks you guys for both your ideas. Went by the local sound shop and will take your advice, all i need to do is choose a sub and i'm set. I already had everything else.

I ended up going components first along with a 4-channel amp and hooked up a weak mono amp for the stock BOSE sub and brought the lowpass down to 50hz.
Later down the road, I picked up a 10" sub, Zenclosures box, and a new mono amp. I applied eDead V1 to the stock BOSE cover to not let sound resonate in the stock space and come out.
