One of either.

Mounting depth - 7.00" (Based on a 6.125" diameter magnet.) Most subs 7" deep or less will fit.

Mounting diameter - 9 1/8"

What is your overall goal with your system?

Budget?

What other equipment do you have or are planning on getting:
Speakers?
Amp(s)?

Biggest battle i had to face about my system. The type x are the best sub ever on a consumer retail level. To me it was the fact of having the best, but it is still over kill. The type r's are still the best and clearest bang for the buck and make me pleanty happy.

My deciding factor, the type x wont fit in the under strut zenclosures. 10s or 12s

The type x is a work of art, but the only way to fit it in is the upwards firing box that goes behind the strut bar.

I just though of this, i wouldn't do it as it would hinder alot of space and not look so good, but you could reverse mount a 10 in an under strut zenclosure...

Plus, the type r's are very light compared to thier power and quality. The type x i like chuging a fat chick in my old low torque RSX. Ehh.. the z would handle it though.

I have 1 10"Type 'X' in my Z and i use to have 2 10"'R's at one point. And i have to tell you the 1 'X' is way better the 2 'R's I have my 'X' in a custom fiberglass corner trunk box that i built.

Oh here is picture of my corner box with the Type 'X'

haha I remember reading up on this topic a hundred times on a caraudio forum years ago. The consensus is the Type X has great clarity and it is a little louder than a Type R. But the type R is a great sounding woofer too, and two of them will be virtually as crisp as a Type X and get a lot louder.

That being said. I have had 2 10" type Rs on 1200 watts, then 1800 watts, but settled for 1 10" Type R with 500 watts because it sounds perfect in our small hatch and gets very loud.
