I just had some built by Bing from Simplicity In Sound. If you search 16psibrick on the audio builds you will find a number of really great kick panel builds. I contacted him and gave him an idea of what I was looking for, which was a high quality 6.5" mid-bass and 1" tweet in my stock kick location. I shipped him my stock kicks, and he built an acoustically dead enclosure with SEAS Lotus separates. The fit and finish is top quality, they image dead center, and dynamics are off the chart. They replace JL ZR separates I had in the stock locations (previous install had extensive dynamat in doors and .75 mdf trim ring), and there is almost no comparison. It is the closest thing I have heard in a car to my Krell Res 3, Krell KSA 150 combo. His service was also outstanding. I have already paid for my kicks and have nothing to gain by writing this review, but am just a very satisfied customer! Here is a pic.

I've read nothing but great from Bing. I plan to "employ" him when I'm ready to do my install

I am interested in the kicks Bing made for you. Does the driver's side kick extend into the dead pedal area? I use mine and my legs are long so I want to keep it.

Any pics of the drivers side?

Also, how do the SEAS compare with DLS, Focal, etc.? I've never had a chance to hear them.

I'd also have to second the opinion that Bing is your best bet on these boards.

I think that depends on the depth of the specific speaker you ask him to construct the pod for. Obviously the shallower the speaker the less it will protrude out into the footwell and vice-versa.

Keep in mind this is my opinion, but Seas' components are top notch. I'm running two of their Lotus SW300/1 subwoofers and I love them. I choose to opt for a set of Morel Elate components as opposed to a set of Seas only because I'm a big fan of midbass and I haven't yet personally heard a set of Seas components that can produce as much midbass as a set of well powered Elates. With that said, for what it's worth, I would not have second thoughts about installing a set of Seas components in another high-end build in perhaps another vehicle.

Sponge, you lose access to the dead pedal with the kicks. It takes some getting use to, and the first couple days you will hate driving without it, but then you just get use to it. I have seen a few installs with smaller drivers that retain access to the dead pedal, but I would go with the 6.5" for better mid-bass than a smaller driver and better staging than a 4" (kick), 6.5" (door) set up. I would recommend the SEAS, but my basis for comparision is limited to MB Quart, Alpine, Diamond, Infinity, Polk, and JL. I have not heard DLS or Focal, but have heard good things. Bing carries DLS and has done a number of installs with them on this forum.

+1 on bing.

The difference between pods and stock location is ridiculous.
