Default Please help!!!!!!!!!!!! Dash kit question

Hi guys. I am in the process of installing my Pioneer Avic-Z2 in my 2003 350z and I am just so confused about something. Searching old threads...mostly everyone seems to say that all you need is one piece from the dash kit. What piece is this exactly?!?!?! Could someone please circle it from the picture below...

http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...z+dash&tp=3121

I however didn't go with the Metra kit. I chose the American International kit from ebay...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWNX:IT

Everything pictured in the listing is ALL that I received. It states no cutting is required yet in the instruction booklet...it clearly states that cutting and filing is required for double din units. So I let it slide and I did that. I then put the trim over my Avic...only to see that there is like an inch gap from the bottom of the screen and like a quarter inch gap from the top. Am I missing something here??? Did I order wrong part??? Why is there gap? Isn't the point of the kit to give it the OEM look? I am so confused. Thanks in advance for any gelp guys.

***EDIT*** Pic of what I mean in post #5

romeo...I'm having the opposite problem from you. I'm using a cheapo dvd double din to replace a defective factory unit and the Scosche double din kit I got didn't even come close to sliding over the face, the Scosche kit was just too small. I ended up filing and cutting it to enlarge the opening but it jams when the unit opens to insert a CD lol.

Yours looks like it may actually fit mine. If you decide to sell it, PM me

you could always attach some velvet/fuzzy tape. The kind that stops squeaks.

You are holding it flush against one side of the kit. Once you install it, you will notice that it will be in the center of the trim ring which in turn you will have a small gap all the way around. You need this small gap so the unit opens and closes without rubbing issues. Also once you install it it will not have light coming thru so the actual gap will not look so bad.

I appreciate the help so far guys,.Thanks. That actually makes me feel a little better but are you sure that there is suppose to be that much gap? I am not holding the trim ring...that is with the trim already situated on the unit and it does not move. So I don't know about it moving towards the center. Also how come in every single picture I've seen on the forums I see ZERO gaps in everyone's setup. Am I just that unfortunate?

Guys. Please. I really don't want to spend another 20 dollars ordering another kit if not necessary. Am I suppose to modify this somehow. Is that huge of a gap normal? Or do I HAVE to order another kit to have that oem look because that gap is just ridiculous.
