Default Ok, let's try this one more time (questions galore)

Hello all,

Well, to say the least I have had a HORRIFYING experience with my overall 2003 350z car build and I come to the experts for advice.

This is my setup as of right now:
-Nine.1 Amp (Elemental Designs)
-Ts-w2502D4 10" Pioneer Premier
-Polk Components
-Small *** custom box
-Optima Yellow Top Battery

The guy that built it for me, based out of Miami, promised me a box that would fit. Well it fits, just not perfectly as you can see. So I am returning the box and selling the sub to get 2 10" woofers.

**Even with a spacer the terminals still hit because the box is angled**

I plan on going with these subs next:

**Should I get the 2ohm or 4ohm version??**

I know that many, if not all of you, are audiophiles but i'm not looking to compete and after playing with that pioneer i've learned the difference between SPL and SQ. I am definitely looking for SPL.

A local dealer told me that he could get me 2 of these 10" at 130.00 each. I see them on ebay for 120.00.

His exact words are:

Check out the Quantum Audio Cozmik SPL subs. They are by DB Drive and I would put them up against any sub...it will kill subs like the Kicker L7.

The 10" handles up 1000rms and the 12" handles up to 1500rms. 10" is $130 and the 12" is $145.

Are they really going to hit harder than the Kicker L7's? Can my Elemental Designs Nine.1 power two of these guys efficiently? And which one would be better; 2 ohm or 4ohm version?

My amp specs:
Model Name : NINe.1 Amplifier
RMS Power @ 12.5v : 1200W x 1 @ 1 Ohm
900W x 1 @ 2 Ohm, 450W x 1 @ 4 Ohm
This is also the next box i'm going to be getting, hopefully it'll be sufficient to let these guys breathe. Do you guys recommend the vent tube?

**God it kills me how much it doesn't sit flush but I need the depth and trunk space LOL**

Specs:

- 3/4" and 1/2" MDF Construction
- Black automotive speaker carpet (charcoal or frost carpet may be substituted upon request
- Holds 2 round 12" subwoofers (10" subs can be substituted upon request)
- Divided into 2 seperate Chambers
- 1.15 cubic feet per chamber
- 9" mounting depth - Based on a 6-1/2" magnet
They have a version of this box that sits more flush but it doesn't specify the cubic feet per chamber, so i'm just going to stay away from that one.

Anyhow, any help or advice would be much appreciated. I'm just trying to get the best build out of this budget.

I never heard of Quantum. Can't say I recommend them. Did you copy/paste the specs of the sub? If so I would have a hard time trusting a company that doesn't proof read their specs before posting them on a website or in a manual. If you look, the RMS watts are double the MAX watts.....I think they meant to reverse that.

Even at that, your nine.1 will be running full tilt trying to push those subs, and if you push the amp too hard, you might end up clipping and thereby destroying the subs. Too little power is more detrimental to a sub that too much power.

Get a dual 10" Zenclosure and drop in 2 Fi SSD 10" subs with about 1/2 pound of acoustastuff. Run them with your nine.1.

The eD nine.1 is stable to 1ohm. He even quoted the specs for the amp in his first post.

But if he is going to be getting 2 subs, he doesn't want to get dual 2ohm coils on the subs, he will want to get the subs in the dual 4ohm coil variety in order to properly achieve a 1ohm load to the amp.
