Default Need help with Kappas and bass

I installed Kappas in the front and have the stock head unit with stock rears. The Kappas have good mid and highs with a tight bass, but not low. There is not as much low bass now. I am wondering if different speakers in the back will help (no subwoofers) or different speakers in the front and moving the Kappas to the back. I am not going to change the head unit. Any suggestions?

The problem is probably the fact that the front speakers aren't getting the proper frequencies. The kappas are pretty bright as-is, and they're probably cut off down low by the stock HU.

I've probably identified the problem, but i really don't know of any solution aside from getting a new HU that'll let you define a slightly lower frequency to the fronts, or get something like a basslink (~$200) to fill in the lows.

I don't know if running just 6'5" midbass in the rears would be a good idea since it'll ruin the soundstage. They should just be ambient fills.

Its the head unit. I tried for months to get it to sound good with quality speakers, sub, amp, etc. A $30 portable CD player has better sound.

Ditch that Clarion garbage and get a decent head unit. The results are night and day.

If you don't want to change the head unit, then thats all you'll ever get.

patdsaunders -

I have experienced the same issue that you are describing. I also put in a new HU and tuned it and still no low bass with the Kappas.
