Default Double Din Units

You guys seem to be good at finding stuff on japanese headunits. I've been looking around for a double din unit that is an LCD A/V center. There are tons of japanese ones, Eclipse makes a bunch. The attached picture is the AVN-7703. It looks like it plays DVD's, has dvd based navigation built in, and does everything else. Does anyone have experience with these units? Or knows any other US manufacturer that does this? I only found one, and its a Rosen/Necvox unit. Unfortuantly this unit is sort of cheap in its feature. I know eclipse made on in the US for a little while but that was the last I saw.

can't really help on where to find them in the US, but I have this unit in my Z (actually the AVN-8803HD, 1 version newer than the picture posted)

The one I have has a 20gb hd for storing MP3s and ATRAC coded sound files (it rips ATRAC files by itself), a 20gb hd for Nav use (map data and overhead satellite images), a cd/dvd player, 5.1 audio, touch screen, TV and option for rear view camera. Except for the Navigation part, most of the menus are in English.

Imagine its going to be rather hard to find this in the US, but if you have any questions about the unit, I'll try to answer them.

Excellent Ether, thats actually the one i really like. I'm sure I woudln't be able to use the Navigation here in the US, but hows that deck for useability? Primarily I want a sub out.. Does it have a tv tuner built in, and can it tune into US FM frequencies? If you could take pictures of the unit in different modes that would be way appreciated...

Approx how much does it cost too..

The deck works pretty good for usability, the only complaint is that the buttons on the edges that control things like volume and track are rather small (designed this way to have maximum screen real estate) and because of this, its a bit hard to operate while driving, I'm used to having an easy dial.

It has sub and center speaker outs and a video in, I have not yet upgraded the speaker system so I can't comment on how these perform . The TV tuner is built in and comes with see through wire antenna that was installed at the top of the front windshield. the freq. for the radio are different than in the US, so you won't get all of them. For the TV, it scans all vhf stations so I think that would work.

Its on the expensive side, aprx $2,000.

I'll take some pictures over the weekend and post them here.

Right on, thanks for the replies. One more thing, can you Tune into the TV mode but have audio coming in through another Aux in? With my old alpine iva-c800, i'd be watching video from Aux-1 and listening to audio on Aux-2. (aux-1 being my TV tuner, and Aux-2 being my mp3 player).

music jukebox mode - these are ATRAC codec files that the HU rips itself from the CDs you put in, works the same as an iPod

damn..that is simply gorgous. I'd be more interested in one that didn't have the NAV or the harddrives built in. Do you know of eclipse dealers over there that has most of the modles? The main thing i'm curious about is if your able to watch TV and listen to audio from another aux input.

Do you have any info on the Alpine INE-W099 double din unit?

I am trying to find out if it has video inputs so i can add the USA NAVIGATION AND DVD CHANGER? Please let me know any info, this is an exclusive Japan piece, just as nice *** the Eclipse model
BTW, sweet head unit!
