Default Annoying Amp Fan, Help?

I have my amp installed right behind the driver side seat in cabin and I also put in a fan in case of overheating since i live in cali it gets pretty hot..... but the damn thing makes a lot of noise and it gets really irritating, i have a rockford fosgate amp 400-4 connected to speakers + sub, i dont know if i need the fan i just put it in 'just in case'. Any suggestions as to what i should do? take fan out? get another amp so that the one i have isnt working so hard? any input would be appreciated

Before getting all stressed out about the situation, why not just disconnect the fan you have hooked up and see if the amp goes into thermal protect?

If it doesn't, then problem solved.

If it does, then look into a quieter fan. Look up the sound level of the model fan you have and find something that is several dB lower.

I currently have 2 amps totaling about 500rms watts in my cubby and have no issues with overheating, even when driven hard in the middle of summer with no fan.

I have mines in the same spot..no fans at all and have that area closed at all times in Texas 100+ degree weather and it has yet to even go into protection on me. I pound it 24/7 and it handles like a champ.

why is it necessary to have 2 amps? does it really make a difference as far as sound quality?

It isn't necessary, It's just the configuration I chose because it fit my power requirements for the speakers and sub I chose. If I would have found an amp that could do the power I needed in a 3-way mode and it also fit my needs for aesthetics and size, then I may have gone that route.

The XA1000 is your standard class D amp, but the XA2000 is a full range class D amp (new auto amp technology when I bought it). I don't necessarily like to follow convention and wanted to try out the ICE Power technology for myself. At the time, there was no amp that did 2 channels full range class D and 1 channel conventional class D (full range class D would have been a waste on the sub channel).

Normally one's a multi-channel amp for the front speakers, and one's a mono amplifier for the subwoofer(s).
