STi-R / V1 Remote custom install (pics)
A few months ago I installed my V1 remote display...

Now I have added an STi-R to the Z...
Antenna

Controler

It took a while to find a place for the display and the LED. I wanted both in my normal field of view but Z comes with those spots filled already.
So something had to go, and since the STi-R has a volt meter built-in I decided the stock unit could go...

thats nice I have the same garmin. How did you install it in the middle? Any pics that show how you got it in? Mine is always falling around with the mounts they give you and the one I bought.
I just stuck that slightly off center to the back of the cubby.
Then I took a stubby mount I ordered online. Can't remember the site, but I just searched for garmin accessories.
I then bought an extra power cord from Target and hardwired it into the Z.
*edit* found a write-up
Copy and paste this into google; /zwiki/Garmin_Nuvi_660_mounted_in_350Z_cubbyhole
^^This shows the metal circle in the middle and it doesn't seem to make for a centered screen, but you will get the idea.

I just piggy backed off of my ZR3's power cord but I didn't do the install on that so I don't know where the installer tapped into the car's power. (I'm guessing the radio.)

I used one of these...http://www.buyradardetectors.com/pro...000035-01.aspx
and cut one of the female jacks off. I hardwired the female "pigtail" into the ZR3 + and -, then plugged the Nuvi power cord into that. There is room for this just in front of the gearshift, behind the plastic cover. http://www.buyradardetectors.com/pro...000035-01.aspx
