Default Thinking about a new setup... suggestions?

Right now I have:

Avic Z-2 going to an Alpine PDX 4.150
The 4.150 is powering some Diamond Audio 600 components using the Diamond Audio crossovers.

I don't have any subs yet but I have a friend who may sell me two Morel Elate 9" subs for $200 each. Here's my new idea for a setup:

Avic Z-2 going to a AudioControl 4XS 2/4 Channel Electronic Crossover. This will allow me to get rid of my Diamond Audio crossover and wiring my tweeters straight into my amp giving my an active setup in the car.

I'll get a pdx 1.1000 to power two elate subs

I won't be competing, I just want the sound to be as good as I can get it within my budget. I had the opportunity to listen to the best stereo I have ever heard (http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2338948). Holy crap, that sound excellent. I thought my D6 components were very good sounding speakers, now they don't seem like they sound so good.

The only thing that I don't have that I want is to be able to time the speakers so I can put a delay on the driver side speakers... Any ideas?

Running your Diamonds in an active setup is an excellent idea. You will be able to reap the benefits of getting them tuned just right for the acoustics in your car.

Instead of the AudioControl (a great unit by the way), I would recommend the Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty.2. It has xover/eq/time alignment.auto tuning capabilities all built in. It's not cheap, but nobody said going active was cheap.

Another option would be the Audison Bit One. Probably a little more than the Rockford 3Sixty.2, but it has gotten rave reviews.
