I dont want to spend more than 400 on it. Just really looking for a unit that would fit nicely in the cubby space.

I bought a garmin 265wt refurbished on ebay. It has lifetime traffic and sort of gives you gas prices. 185 shipped plus the wiretaps at 2 bucks and some elbow grease and some wasted time on the internet = clean install

I work with a bunch of audio and video engineers ... re: uber-geeks.

We've all tried one brand or another and keep coming back to Garmin every time. It's the user interface. The GPS chips are pretty much the same, the screens about the same, even the maps ... but the Garmin user interface "works" better in our opinions. Out of the six guys we all have owned the exact same Garmin model, now as the line has expanded we've drifted apart but all of us still stay with Garmin.

Get to a store with them an put your mitts on them and see how they feel to you. The most common task I do is searching for and going to a new address. Once found I toss it in my favorites and I'm good to go for the next trip. IIRC I just read that the MSN Direct is going to be dropped in 2012 ... but that's a long way away in GPS years.

Thanks I really appreciate the info. Ive been reading stats on so many different models that Im sick of looking. Ive narrowed it down to two models; Garmin Nuvi 780, and the Sony NVU94T. The sony is on sale for 166 and The mount looks really compatible for the cubby hole fit but some reviews say theyhave trouble getting a signal. The Nuvi 780 is on sale for 199 and was 699. I have a garmin 76CS I use for my motorcycles and out doors stuff and I have never had a problem with it. I think I will go with the Nuvi 780. Im not real familiar with the MSN direct but this one says it comes with version 2 of MSN direct.

I stuck a Garmin Nuvi 760 I puchased off of Amazon for 260.00 new. Unit works great and fits just right in the cubby. Requires a small stub mounting cup. See link from 350Z wiki:
