Question Illumination Wire Question...

Does the illumination wire on the harness throw a ground or 12v when I turn the headlights on?

If I remember correctly from my install, it is a +12. But while you are installing your new headunit you can just confirm it to make sure. Even if someone here said the knew 100% that it was +12v, I would still double check for myself, as should everyone else.

according to the '03 service manual the base radio has an illumination input (red/yellow, pin 7) and a lighting switch input (red/blue, pin 8) that both show 12vdc when the lights are on and both show near ground when the lights are off.

As StreetOC said make sure you verify with a meter before making any connections.

Thanks a lot guys! Appreciate it. I'll double check to make sure when I do work on it.
