Anything is possible, but it is not just as simple as swapping the head unit. The wiring, amps, eletronics, etc. are all different with the Bose vs. non Bose system. Again, I would advise just going with an aftermarket head unit... if installed correctly there are many aftermarket head units that would not look out of place in the 350z.

 

I tell you what I will sell you mine (came form my 03 Touring) for 53 cents + shipping or an even trade for a European hooker.

Note: CDs skip when its cold outside, might just need a good cleaning

BTW, most OE sound system seems utilize low quality components. Just take a look at bose speakers and sub... Who know what sort of cheap parts were used in headunit...
I have DDX512 and set the illumination to amber to match interior lighting... It blends in perfectly.

 

And I forgot to mention that American International dash kit is the way to go (at least for my 06YM)

If you decide to go aftermarket think about what you would like to have: ipod hook up, dvd, nav, bluetooth.. etc.
