The COST:
After my Z was broken into over the weekend of Black Friday, I decided that I had enough. It was a big hassle to deal with and moreover waiting 2-3 months for parts [in this case my RSW Carbon Fiber dash kit] from JDMland [Japan] was annoying and I'm hoping to not have to deal with this any more. In addition, I was lucky enough to not have the car stolen completely. So I decided to do research on the best security system for the money. I came up with the Viper 5902 and basically 80% of all the sensors and add-ons I can buy (the ones that actually makes sense anyways).
I was quoted $800 for the alarm system itself, then around an extra $400 for all the options I listed above. Then basic install doesn't really give much so it would be another $300 for install and an additional $25-$50 for every single add-on sensor/accessories which totals up to be more than $1600!!! That's ridiculous! So I used the internet bible aka GOOGLE and figured out that I can get everything online for $500 shipped to my door as oppose to $1200 plus tax at CarToys. The tricky part is the install. If you have ever seen an alarm install on a Z you'll wonder how the heck do they fit anything into the cabin and under the hood - there is very little room.
The INSTALL:
The cheapest quote I got was $575 for JUST install! Luckily, my friend has connections with a master tech at a popular store [ I cannot name for obvious reasons] and because of that I got everything installed for $250! The install took initially an estimated 4 hours turning into 6 hours - and this is a mastertech with 15 years experience. Though he did take his time and was very careful with my car due to the nature of the car. Notes: Make sure you trust your installer - if you are not comfortable with him/her then I suggest finding another installer. A great alarm is nothing but junk electronics if it stops working. Ask around and see if any of your friends has a trusty audio/alarm installer they know - but don't cheap out or get impatient. I waited for my installer because my buddy swears by him and he have done multiple cars for my friend. If you're in the Seattle, WA area, just PM me and I'll send you to my buddy - he will get you the best installer I've seen and worked with.
The ALARM:
Best advice first - READ THE MANUAL! This alarm is so much more sophisticated than any other security system I've ever worked with. It simply is the best. You can do everything from setting up parking meter timers, regular timers, see your car's temperature, to controlling on/off commands of all the sensors. There is simply too much to write so I will do a video review and it will be posted up in 2-3 days or so. I do want to mention a few of my favorite function
-You can name your remote. Default is Remote 1 but I renamed it to Malie Z33
-1 mile range! Ridiculously awesome!
-Car temperature: monitors the tempt inside your car before you get in and drive
-HD Remote is colorful and much more powerful - it charges by an AC adapter via mini-USB port so I assume you can charge it with your laptop too if you have a mini-USB cord
-Sleek design: the best looking car remote I've seen
-You can "lock" your remote like you do your phone so you don't accidentally press the autostart button or something like that. This is highly recommended so that you do not set off the alarm in your pocket and such. To unlock the remote you have to press autostart then the unlock button before you can make any commands. Auto lock is 20 seconds after the last button is pressed.
-For more please refer to your manual.

Got the tilt sensor. I have gated/garaged parking so it's usually pretty safe. The range outside is freaking amazing.. garage parking and walls kill the range drastically, but its still stronger that what I expected.

Described by its manufacturer, Taser International, as the first electric prod for the average car, it's a US$250 device that turns the steering wheel into a 50,000-volt force field. The company claims that 50,000 volts shimmering through a human body is less damaging than sticking your hand in a wall socket, but considerably more electricity than is generated by sliding your feet across a **** carpet.
When a thief enters a car and attempts to touch the steering wheel or grab the Auto Taser device, the system lets off a deafening 130-decibel siren from inside the car. A few seconds later, Auto Taser gets serious, setting off an electrical force through both the steering wheel and the car radio with enough punch to "definitely cause a week of bad hair days," says Tina Miller-Steinke, a spokeswoman for Taser International.

Make sure you know what you're going to do in advance of responding to your alarm in the middle of the night. Know the laws on use of force and the legal limits of what you can do. Here in California see penal code 197 which allows for the use of deadly force in many many cases - including to stop a property related felony.
I use to live in San Diego years ago. A friend had beautiful custom VW Beetle. One night his alarm goes off so the guy leans out his second story window and yells at the guy ... he flips him off and keeps working on unbolting a part. Friend grabs his SKS and fires off six or eight rounds into the air. Thief runs off. Five minutes later friend is in handcuffs after the neighbors complained. His charges were later dismissed but the system had him by the short hairs for a long time before letting him go.
Lots of these car thieves are dopers whacked out and desperate. Know what you're going to do today and be careful.

Thanks guys.
And Paul, totally understand what you're saying bro. I'm not about to risk my life, or my passenger (99.9% of the time is my girlfriend) for a car. I love my Z, but not enough to risk my well being or put myself in harm's way for it. The alarm, at best, is a tool for deterrence and a piece of mind. If I see a thief breaking into my car, I'm gonna yell at them and call 911. I'm not gonna confront them at close proximity. Like you say these guys are desperate or they're just crazy - who knows what they're going to do. And I'm not about to deal with the legality that could come if any physical confrontation comes into play over a car. That's why we got car insurance.
None-the-less I'm excited for this alarm because it's going to at least shelp scare away most thieves. Thieves are in it for a quick and easy few bucks. They're not gonna risk it to get something when there are tons of other easier cars to jack. They break in, siren goes off like a fire truck and I'm hoping they'll just run off instead of trying to mess with it. Plus the range, remote start, window modules are nice. My last viper went off when I parked my Evo at my gf's house and some kid's basketball hit my car. Needless to say he was scared shitless when I gave him a piece of my mind and taught him respect for peoples property. I think his Mom wasn't too pleased with him either haha

I have the proximity sensor and it got really annoying. Everytime someone walked by my car it would always go off. It came to the point where I just turned it off because I couldn't take it anymore.
