^^ You don’t need access to the buttons along the bottom of the screen. The KOS Controller (V500 or V1000) is managed using the touch-screen features on the KOS-L702 screen. You also have a handheld remote control you can use. If you elect using a custom fabricator to mount the screen, you might want to have him expose the buttons.

Two disadvantages of covering the buttons along the bottom of the screen are:

1. The automatic dimmer-sensor is covered.
2. The main power switch to toggle the screen and controller on/off is located on the bottom of the KOS LZ-702 Monitor.

The workarounds are (1) adjusting screen brightness using the touch-screen function, and (2) connecting a manual on/off switch to the red power line on the KOS Controller.

The red power line is connected to the ignition and only receives power when the car is on. The unit will turn on when you turn the car on, but without access to buttons on the KOS-LZ-702, you cannot turn the unit off while the ignition is on. That’s why you may want to consider installing an on/off switch.

Note: Do not install a switch that interrupts the constant power line (yellow power wire). The yellow wire only recharges the KOS Controller’s internal battery that is required to maintain your settings. The Controller is “power intelligent” and will not drain your car’s battery.
