Default after replacing to the 03 cubby

hey all,
I just installed a monitor in the cubby place.
Bought the 03 retracting cubby.. I have a 04.
everything went well until i found out that i can't close the door for the cubby. The small piece that bolts on to the front of the cubby does not fit..and it does not close..
Am I supposed to have it opened all the time or is there a solution to close the door as well as having the right piece for the front of the cubby. (I don't know what its called.. but its a long plastic piece that goes in the front that has two screw holes)
Thanks in advance,

There is a $10 piece that goes in front that the lid locks into.

The door ought to open and close.

There is a track along the top that the door gets pulled up and along. Make sure nothing is blocking this area. You can sort of see the tracks on the top in this picture.

And a side view with the door retracted.
