what would you buy with a $400 budget
Like the title says what would you buy with $400. I have an 03 touring with the bose. I upgraded the HU with a JVC Arsenal KD-ABT22. Stock speakers as everyone says sounds like crap.
So I am in need of front component speakers, a sub (one or two 10"), and an amp (or two, one for sub and one for speakers). I would like something that fits stock without needing to modify the mounting. Sub box is not needed. I'm no audiophile but I would like it to sound decent.
Thanks a lot and any advice is apprecaited.

lmao indeed, will you put on there donated by wras in quotes?.
Let me rephrase this a bit too. I may end up doing this in phases, maybe the door speakers first then an amp and sub down the road to increase my budget. I'm thinking that would be the smartest route or would anyone do the reverse of adding a sub and amp then door speakers later?
On a side note I ran into a nice woman today with a black 370 and snapped a few pics of our cars together that I will post up later tonight or tomorrow. The 370's look better in person I think than my first opinion from pictures.

I dont know much about speakers, theres alot out there that are less than $100 for a pair. I would upgrade the front speakers if your on a budget.
I changed mine out for $75 Infinitys and it made a big difference.

My friend has the same setup and it sounds really nice. Unless theres a better amp that someone else knows about, thats what i would suggest. The 10w3 is an awesome sub and that kenwood will provide a nice 400+- RMS wattage to it. Keep in mind you still have to spend about $75 for wiring. What are you using as a box?

Thanks again.
Do your front main speakers first.
$400 will buy you just about any of them - have a listen to other member's speakers if you can. Worse case listen to them in a store understanding that they sound different installed.

Yeah I'd change out the front speakers first although you have to ask yourself what's your long term goal as well.
I'll always be a fan of components in pods with an amp versus coaxial on an amp in the stock location...

With all of those stereo upgrades, I would suggest you spend the money on a Viper 5901 or Viper 5902 Alarm because you know how most thieves are...
They will steal all of the flashy stuff in your car, such as rims, radios, and anything they can resell for a buck...
So invest in a 2-Way paging alarm and you will not have to use this $400 to replace the stolen stereo system, lol
