Default Bose HU Dead: Help With Aftermarket Questions (Wheel controls, etc.)

My Bose HU crapped out today out of nowhere. It worked perfect yesterday, and today all I get is a "Push Eject" message over and over again. So I have a few questions.

1) Since I have an 06 Touring, I have steering wheel controls. I understand that the PAC harness will allow me to retain volume and track switch buttons, but what about Mode and Power buttons? I'd like to be able to switch between an aftermarket HU's modes, and also power it down via steering wheel. Is there a solution for this?

2) Does anybody have a suggestion on good Double-Din units? I'd rather not risk having a GPS/DVD unit, since I have my iPhone for that and theft is a concern of mine.

3) Annd, for the hell of it, if you have an 06+ Bose HU in working order and mint looks, PM me with an offer.

I ended up using the PAC-SWI-PS for my pioneer z3 and it allows me to use all the commands from the steering wheel. Only difference is that the power button on the steering wheel functions as a mute button and to power off the unit I simply hold down the mode button for a few seconds on the steering wheel. The reason the mode button functions as the power is that to power off from the head unit I have to hold down the source button (quite a number of hu's function this way ). Hope this helps, the swi-ps is compatible with quite a number of hu's ( check the website ) and is a wired model instead of having an IR unit that you have to place somewhere in sight of the hu's front panel.
