Default Custom Cables

Has anyone had custom cables made to adapt a MP3 player (Not Ipod) to your system?

I have a Creative Zen Vision: M and the after market has not been kind to this player. My problem is, no one makes a cable that will output A/V RCA and also input 12v-5V dc for charging. I have made a home made cable to prove the concept, but it is far from professional looking.

If anyone has any experience in this, or dealing with custom made electronic cables, I would appreciate the information.

I can play anything but not charge it from the same port.... so I guess that doesnt really answer your question.

It sounds as though you have solved the physical aspects of your cables and the necessary connections, but you don’t like the esthetics when wrapping the package in black electrical tape.

Is that right, or did I miss your question?

Yeah you hit it right on the head. I have made one myself, but I would like to find a company willing to re-make the one I have created in a more professional manner from scratch.

Yeah, but I know that no one has ever made one, so I think I am dealing with a one off type scenario.

Here is a picture of the one I built

In all my custom cable making days my best friends were

Techflex sleeves:

and heat shrink tubing:

Now, as for the BULK in your cable where the splices are all made. Maybe you could use a housing? Drill your wire access holes and use rubber grommets to help make it look nice?

Just some ideas.

Yeah I could take it apart and do a better job, I didn't have heat shrink large enough to cover the connector, but I used it on the bottom to hold the cables together. I just do not think my skill level is where I want my quality level to be at.
