Dropping in a new Aftermarket radio
So I accidentally this radio just now to drop into my lady. I'm debating if I should have Best Buy install it or have my dad do it. My dad is an electronics engineer and has dropped in alot of radios into his cars, so he does have experience.
So anyways here's the radio I just got. It's a Pioneer AVH-P3200DVD in dash double din DVD multimedia receiver.
I can't wait to play with it!!!

Of course I’m kidding and exaggerating here… Dad will do the job correctly, and the installation will be flawless.
David is correct though… Dad will probably take an excessive amount of time to do this… and all of the time you will be eager to listen to the new H/U (i.e., Dad, can we get this done soon?... Are we there yet?)

^^ But Dad will do it for free. If he cannot do it, there is nothing lost, and it's time to use a Professional Installer.
I say let Dad take a "run at it." Dad wants to do this for his kid.

Why pay for something his Dad can do for free. Installing a H/U in a Z is simple plus you can sit and learn a thing or two. Every time the car goes to a shop there's always a new scratch or a broken clip or two and the #1 answer is it was like that when you brought it in. DIY save a few bucks and learn something
I did not buy it from best buy. I have a co-worker who's brother in law is a manager there. He told me all the little scams and how much they bump up prices. It's ridiculous! I'm just gonna have my dad take a run @ it. He just installed a Sony radio into his Neon like 2 months ago...
I have done a lot of car stereo installs and the Z isn't bad.
However, the way the radio and center dash come out together was a little different than most other cars I have worked with.
Just look up a DIY with some pics and it should be easy.

looks like a very nice h/U. Do you know if it still uses avi format for video. Very important make sure you ground the rca's to the chassis of the H/u, pioneers have an on board fuse and if it blows(very easily) you will drive yourself crazy trying to figure out where the noise is coming from. Its worst than the alt whine

i spent all morning looking for a harness kit for the radio. Apparently no one carries a double din for an 07 Z. :facepalm No one online does either except ebay.
What are your suggestions? I really had my heart set on getting it installed today.

Ok so... I've Ebay'ed the harness and antenna adapter for the radio. I'm gonna have my dad install it this week once the Ebay parts arrive. Luckly the store is in Lakeland FL.
Now I just need to find a relay so I can watch my DVDs without having the E brake up.
