Basslink Owners-Pics?, Install?, Worth it?
I have a 04 Non-bose stereo. I want to keep the factory radio, tweeters, front speakers. I want to replace the rear speakers with new set of OEM since the rear don't work at all. Bad coil I guess.
Anyways I want some added bass. Nothing crazy just noticeable from what the factory speakers can't produce.
I was looking into the Basslink powered subwoofer. Hear good things. Sound is good, Most install it in the factory bose location so don't take up room in the hatch, price is good. $175.
Does anyone have pics of it located in the factory location?, Best way to mount it, which way to fire the sub? I know the gas tank is right below this area. I believe mount it from the brackets above.
How much should a install cost for replacing rear speakers & Install the basslink?
Thanks!!!

Your post interests me since I’ve decided to go with the Infinity BaseLink in my 2003 Z. I realize there are better solutions, even inside the rear compartment behind the driver’s seat using a sealed box (something that is available from Nazar)
I’ve ruled out the best solutions: Under strut position or the rear quarter-panel mounts because I need the cargo space, and the spare-tire compartment (I don’t want run-flat tires).
I’ve had the opportunity to listen to the BassLink in a car (but not the Z), and it’s not a great SubW by any measure, but it’s really not too bad. Of course, you won’t get the deep “thump” you hear with a sealed SubW and dedicated amp. Think of the BassLink as somewhere between a quality woofer/midrange you get when mounting your front component speaker and a SubW with its own amp you mount in a larger sealed compartment.
The good thing is the Basslink allows you to offload the low frequencies sent to your front door components. That eliminates the front-door-panel vibration and poor low frequency sound that plague even the best component speakers you mount in the front.
To mount the BassLink, you could get the OEM SubW Bose panel, and then mount the SubW close to the existing grill. A second option is using the panel you already have, cutting a hole for the Basslink, and mounting the device so it aligns with the hole with a custom finishing piece/bezel.
The BassLink comes with mounting brackets. For sure you do now want a rigid mount to the panel that causes vibration and unwanted sound –effects. You will use some rubber washers/gaskets and probably some sound deadening sheets.
BTW: If you replace the rear speakers… Do not get the OEM Clarions. You should get some moderately priced coaxial speakers which will sound much better than the OEM speakers. Infinity makes these for < $100 for the pair.
You asked: “How much should a install cost for replacing rear speakers & Install the basslink?”
The answer: If you hire a Professional Installer to do this, it won’t be cheap. Replacing the rear speakers requires a significant disassembly that takes a lot of time. And… your OEM Clarion H/U does not have direct support for a SubW, so the technician will spend time tweaking the BassLink so that it sounds right with whatever you have in the car.
