Bose Issue not resolved
I have been "refused" by both the dealer, where I purchased the car, "Rodeo Nissan" of Clovis CA and Nissan Consumer Affairs to replace my Bose amp under any current TSB. Even though my Z was mfg. in 3/2003 and has the Bose amp # 28060-CD400 they will not replace, they claim it does not apply to my VIN. This is for both the 03-086 and the 03-087 TSBs. I have spent the last week dealing with both of them. They flatly refuse to replace the amp.
I believe this is by design, a sort of divide and conquer strategy by Nissan to limit the effects of complaints and the possible consequences of replacing all the amps in all 2003 350Z Touring models sold to date. If you got the fix, consider yourself lucky because it is not available to all. I encourage everone to sign the petition and not allow this to happen.
By the way, I would discourage anyone from either buying a car from or using Rodeo Nissan of Clovis CA. I don't know if this comment is allowed on this forum, but I think if it were done by more members with bad experiences it could make a difference.

The sub woofer amp is not the one you need. You need the main amp which is located in the driver side rear of the car.
Based on manufacture date, your car is covered by NTB 03-087. This TSB does not reference vin numbers as such, but rather covers cars built after 9/28/02 through 05/03.
I am not surprised at the dealer's response to you, but I am surprised at Nissan Consumer Affairs not helping you. I would call consumer affairs again, speak to a rep and ask them to read the TSB to you, then lodge a complaint against your dealer. I have had good luck with Nissan Consumer Affairs.

Yeah, I know it is not the right amp he wants to sell. I need the 28060-CE400 amp. Just wondering what he might have to sell.
As for Nissan Consumer Affiars, three different people said the same thing. Like I said, I think this is intentional. Split the owners and they solve the problem at a lot less expense.
SIGN THE PETITION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By the way Wedge, does the grounding kit make any difference in the way the engine runs? I have considered doing it but not sure if it is worth the money.

sorry wedge, but i have to disagree with you as far as 087 not refering to specific vins. i sat with the sm and pointed to the area of vins my car fell under on the actual tsb. there are vins listed on the tsb as well as build dates. i'll see if i can get them when my dealer opens on monday. i recall there being actually two sets of vin ranges. anyway i'll see what i can dig up.

There is also a small Bose sub-woofer amp located in the sub-woofer area, I think that is what RedHerring was talking about.
I feel grounding kits give you a smoother idle and also help all the electronics run better. Lots of people agree, then again some don't agree. There have been some articles regarding the benefits of grounding kits. One was posted at 350Z Frenzy here:

I got my grounding kit from Z-Xtreme for $75. It is an easy DIY install and the kits he makes are quality stuff in a variety of colors for whatever color scheme you are going for. You can go here to read more about the kits:

acjet: You are correct! I was wrong. I got hung up on the build dates because the main body of the TSB's refer to build dates and not VIN's. They do list VIN's as you said and as mreed76 posted. Thanks for straightening me out on that.

Dude, they aren't going to limit the fix, just go to a different dealer and stop complaining. Your Z falls between the dates and should therefore fall inside the VINs. The VINs listed cover over 30,700 350Z's out of about 35,000 manufactured. This is undeniable and if one dealer has trouble interpreting a simple TSB, just find another. There are TONS of dealers out there.

First of all "dude", I am not complaining. I am stating the facts. NNA has four different times told me the TSB does not apply to my VIN. Since I do not have the TSB I am at a disadvantage because I can't refute what they saying, but I know what they are doing. I just hope they don't pull this trick on you when you have a problem with your Z.
