Yea I probably wouldnt buy a newer JL product because of the price. I know enough about different audio brands to know that JL is overpriced. The quality is obviously good, but for the price, you could have better. Like I said tho, I got a good deal from a friend...So yea, lucky me I guess!

I didnt need it i just needed a $20 part. on Jl's newer subs they make it so their suppliers only supply them with those specific parts so they charge 2x as much for recones and for something so simple as a tear in the surround you can either fix yourself, send it to them for serious price gouging are make it a paper weight. I will never buy another one of there products especially since there are so many better subs, amps etc etc out now that out perform and are cheaper to buy and maintain.
yeah jl can be pretty elitist about their stuff. it does tend to be overpriced as well. if you buy the stuff from an authorized dealer though they should... SHOULD... replace pretty much everything the breaks for free within a few years. i've blown 2 pairs of c5's (which actually took a lot of damned effort) and it may take them a couple days to get me a new pair if they don't have them in stock but i've never had a problem where they charge a ton(or anything at all for the c5's) to fix something that was bought legit from one of their dealers. i also have 2 12w6's that they wanted to charge me like 200 to fix a cone though since i didn't buy them from an authorized dealer.

i've never heard a JL horror story that didn't start with "so i picked up this stuff from the back of some guy's car for hella cheap"... you know what i mean?
